The Game

Overview

You are Noah, the Noah in the Bible. The time is shortly before the “Inundatio” – the global flood, so around 2500 BC. God speaks to you and tells you the world is wicked and He is going to destroy everything and everyone in a global flood. He wants you to build a boat, the ark, in which people can be saved from the flood. Over the next 120 years you, your 3 sons and those you hire build the ark according to the design God gives you. You also tell people what God is going to do and invite them into the ark with you. At the end of 120 years God says time to go into the ark, the flood is coming very soon. The game begins!

Objectives

  1. Phase 1: Get all the animals whom God sends to you into the ark, into their pens, before the flood begins. You have limited time.
  2. Phase 2: During the first portion of the flood you steer the ark as the waters lift it off the ground and it floats. You steer it as it moves in the current, to avoid hitting mountains. You steer it to avoid being impacted by falling comets and meteors. You steer it to avoid running the ark into lava flowing from volcanoes.
  3. Phase 3: During the second portion of the flood, when the water stop rising, the comets and meteors and volcanoes stop, you take care of the animals in the ark. You must feed then, water them, clean their pens, all fast enough so they do not die of hunger, thirst or disease from unclean pens.
  4. Phase 4: During the final portion of the flood, when the water recedes you steer the ark so it avoids hitting mountains as they become visible in the lowering waters. You bring the ark to rest on a flat valley floor.

If you accomplish all these levels you survive the floor and are listed in the Bible, in Hebrews chapter 11, as a hero and all people living on earth today are your descendants.

The Rules

The following rules are not finalized, nor are the game controls

  1. Each level has a predefined objective. There may be more than one way to meet the objective but selecting a way that works may cause problems in later levels. Thus, completing a level does not guarantee it was done properly.
  2. Each animal has a size. Each pen has a size. Animals can only go into pens that match their size or go into a pen larger than the animal size.
  3. Each animal has a speed at which they move. As animals walk to their pens from the ark door they move at their predefined speed. Animals cannot pass each other. Thus, a slower animal will block a faster animal.
  4. The user uses 1 finger to drag across the smartphone screen to move the viewport to display a different area of the ark.
  5. Double tap on the ark to bring up a zoom window. This will show the area where you tapped zoomed-in and from an angle. It will be easier to select small animals in this view. Double tap inside this zoomed-in view to close the zoom window. When the zoom windos is open you can double tap outside the zoom window to move the zoom window and also to switch the main view with the zoomed-in view. Thus double tapping cycles through the two viws.
  6. The user uses a single finger tap on the smartphone screen to select an animal and then select a pen into which the animal is to go.
  7. The user can select an animal in transit to a pen and then select a different pen to have that animal change course and go to the newly selected pen.
  8. When a user selects an animal, the user is automatically selecting all 2 or all 14 of those animals. The same kind of animal always move as a group and always go into the same pen together.
  9. Each level of animal boarding has a time limit. If the animals are not all in their pens when the time limit is reached Noah losses a life, indicated by an animation showing the flood coming and the ark door being open and getting flooded.
  10. Noah starts with 3 lives. Once all 3 lives are lost the game ends.
  11. During the flood stage of the game the user tilts the smartphone in different directions to have the ark change course towards the direction of tilt.
